Reunification

It’s always been apparent to me that a Black/Jewish alliance is the best protection against the Christian nationalist White supremacist takeover. And it must be apparent to them too since every time Blacks and Jews have marched together and joined forces something or someone fractures the coalition and intentionally creates dissension, turning them against one another.

Maybe the conspiracy pandemic has infected me but the timing of The Trump dinner with Kanye and Fuentes felt staged; why now? Who’s behind it?
So I was heartened today to see a full page ad in The NY Times promoting Fifteen days of Light to dispel the darkness of racism and antisemitism in America. It’s sponsored by the World Values Network, in partnership with the conference of National Black Churches.

Michael Eric Dyson recently wrote in this NY Times article that … “African Americans and Jews are passengers on the same ship facing the ferocious headwinds of bigotry and hatred.” (Our only shield against the iceberg is to join forces despite the concerted efforts of the enemy to turn us against one another.

Thanks to Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, Elisha Wiesel, and Dr. W. Franklyn Richardson, for leading this critically important movement. My concern, however, is what happens after the Fifteen Days of Light? How do we sustain this effort and resist the forces of hatred and separation? Sign me up!
